Kudos Anand Cheema!

Impulsiveness isn’t always seen as a virtue… unless it relates to retail, that is! So when fwip fanboi and independent SPAR Scotland retailer, Anand Cheema, won ‘Impulse Retailer Of The Year’ at the Asian Trader Awards, we figured we’d give him a huge scoop of kudos.

For as long as he can remember, 24-year-old Anand has been in retail and coming from a proud line of Asian retailers, he opened his first store in August 2020 at Maggie Wood’s Loan in Falkirk.

Recognised for his impulse merchandising and sales in store, Anand’s achievement took place within a very short time-frame.

He partly attributes the store’s success to his investment in food-to-go options – coffee, iced drinks, and premium fwip ice cream!

It’s clear his strategy is working. Incredibly, he’s also enjoyed some exciting offers on spirits, with bottles from high-end distilleries selling for between £1,600 and £3,400 – although admittedly, these were probably not impulse buys!

Rallying Retail

Anand and other innovative retailers like him are leading lights in the future of retail.

As a Product Innovation Award finalist, at the Restaurant and Takeaway Innovation Expo 2019, fwip shares Anand’s passion for innovation.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Anand is already thinking ahead, saying

Hopefully, I can bring the main award home with me for SPAR and my family next time around.
